Castrol Tribol WR 4600 Wire Rope Lubricant
Castrol Tribol WR 4600 is a wire rope lubricant specifically developed for wire ropes used in building’s elevators. It is formulated to allow fast evaporation leaving an oil-based residue which lubricates and provides corrosion protection to the elevator wire rope.
Tribol WR 4600 was designed to provide both lubrication and corrosion protection to elevator wire ropes; it is best applied by painting with a standard paint brush or using a paint roller and pan.
Tribol WR 4600 is applied to the wire rope as a clear colourless liquid.
The de-aromatised solvent evaporates leaving, a tenacious shear stable lubricating and protecting film.
Tribol WR 4600 is not suitable for use in wick feed automatic lubricators.
Castrol Tribol WR 4600 Wire Rope Lubricant Product Advantages:
- Low initial viscosity of the dispensed product provides rapid and effective penetration into the ropes and ease of coverage of the ropes during application.
- High evaporation rate, allows ropes to be generously lubricated and lifts returned to service immediately without the risks of fling off and dripping of lubricant onto the brake drums, or wear associated with dilution of base lubricant.
- High final viscosity maximising the film strength and abrasion protection to best combat external wear of the ropes and sheaves and internal fretting corrosion of the ropes, in order to increase rope and sheave life and minimise repair costs.
- High shear stability, tenacity and longevity of the base lubricant to maximise the film lifetime to significantly lengthen the re-lubrication interval and thus minimise the material and labour costs of relubrication over the life of the lift.
- The ability of the base lubricant during downtime to flow back into internal wire contact zones to prevent internal fretting, corrosion and wear.
- High tackiness and low slipperiness of the base lubricant to enhance rather than degrade traction.
- Excellent corrosion protection suitable for salty coastal environments and outdoor / observation lifts.
- Contains synthetic polymer and refined low-odour solvent.

Before using the product, the vehicle’s maintenance guide should be checked. The product should not be stored at temperatures over 60°C. It should be kept away from sunlight, intense cold and extreme temperature fluctuations. If possible, the packaging should not be exposed to the elements. Otherwise, the drums should be laid horizontally to avoid any contamination from water and to prevent the product’s label from rubbing off.
All packages should be stored under cover. Where outside storage is unavoidable drums should be laid horizontally to avoid the possible ingress of water and damage to drum markings. Products should not be stored above 60°C, or exposed to hot sun or freezing conditions.
