Castrol Magna CL 1000

Castrol Magna CL 1000 Gas Compressor Lubricant
The Castrol Magna CL Range (previously called Castrol Cresta™ VA range and Cresta™ SHS) is formulated with high-quality mineral base oils, with the addition of friction and lubricity modifiers to increase the film strength and reduce friction. Water is thoroughly emulsified by the additives in Magna CL to resist wash-off from metal surfaces, helping to
prevent corrosion and wear when moisture is present.
Magna CL 1000 is formulated from selected base cylinder stocks to achieve the desirable characteristics of high flash point and oxidation stability.
It possesses good demulsibility, which means for the lubrication of the cylinders of high-speed, totally enclosed steam engines, it does not materially reduce the demulsibility of the crankcase oil.
- Cylinder and Packing lubrication on reciprocating gas compressors when compressing natural gas below its dew point.
- Cylinder lubricant for reciprocating steam engines operating with wet (non-superheated) steam.
- Higher-viscosity products from the Magna CL range can also be used in worm gearboxes.
Castrol Magna CL 1000 is designed for lubrication of steam engine cylinders and valves. It is also suitable for other purposes, such as the lubrication of heavily loaded slow-moving bearings and gears. It is also suitable for condensing engines using high-pressure steam up to 200psi and superheating up to 345°C/653°F.

Storage:
All packages should be stored under cover. Where outside storage is unavoidable drums should be laid horizontally to
avoid the possible ingress of water and the obliteration of drum markings. Products should not be stored above 600C,
or exposed to hot sun or freezing conditions.
This product was previously called Cresta VA and Cresta SHS. The name was changed in 2015.
