Hyspin AWS has been specially formulated to provide good anti-wear and thermal stability performance using the very latest additive technology. The careful blend of additives with a high quality base stock ensures that Hyspin AWS has excellent hydrolytic and oxidative stability while exhibiting a minimal tendency to produce sludge and deposits. In addition, Hyspin AWS provides corrosion protection to ferrous and yellow metal components found within a hydraulic system. The Castrol Hyspin AWS hydraulic oil range is based upon highly refined mineral oil with a low zinc containing anti-wear system.

 

Application

The Hyspin AWS range are hydraulic oils for use in gear, vane, radial piston, and axial piston pumps where pressures and speeds require anti-wear oils and are specified by equipment manufacturers. This range is designed for use in industrial hydraulic systems which require anti-wear protection. It is also suitable for other duties in which lubricants of high oxidation stability and lubrication performance are required, such as lightly loaded gears, variable speed units and bearings. The Hyspin AWS range is fully compatible with elastomer materials commonly used for static and dynamic seals, such as nitrile, silicone and fluorinated (e.g. Viton) polymers.

The Castrol Hyspin™ HVI range of high viscosity index (VI) oils is based on a carefully selected ashless (zinc free) additive system designed to meet and exceed the most exacting performance standards.


Application

Hyspin HVI oils are intended for severely stressed hydraulic systems requiring a high level of anti-wear performance and fine filtration. In addition, Hyspin HVI exhibits excellent corrosion protection as well as outstanding thermal and oxidative stability. Hyspin HVI has excellent hydrolytic stability and separates rapidly from water contamination. Hyspin HVI contains a shear stable additive system helps maintain the viscosity characteristics of the product over a wide temperature range even during prolonged use and imparts a very low pour point which enables the product to be used in very cold environments. Applications include outdoor equipment which are likely to operate in wide temperature ranges, such as machinery subjected to cold start up conditions and high temperature continuous running. Examples include off-highway and marine applications. Indoor manufacturing equipment that incorporates control systems requiring minimal viscosity change with temperature. Examples include precision machine tools. The Hyspin HVI range is fully compatible with elastomer materials commonly used for static and dynamic seals, such as nitrile, silicone and fluorinated (e.g. Viton) polymers.

Synthetic ester-based fluid with biodegradable properties, for use in environmentally sensitive areas. HES 15 can also be used as a spindle oil.

 

DESCRIPTION
The Castrol Carelube™ HES hydraulic oil range are based on carefully selected synthetic esters, which are highly biodegradable and recommended for use in situations where leakage or spillage may present a risk of harm to the environment.

 

APPLICATION

The Carelube HES range is used as a hydraulic oil for applications in environmentally sensitive areas such as; near or on waterways, and in the agriculture, forestry, mining and construction industries.
The range may also be used for machine tool hydraulic systems where ester based soluble cutting fluids are being utilised and minimisation of impact of contamination is required.
Carelube HES range is miscible with conventional mineral oil-based hydraulic fluids and products based on natural esters but, in order to maximise the performance benefits of these products - both physically and environmentally, either through draining or flushing to minimise residues of other lubricants is recommended.
This range is fully compatible with the elastomer materials commonly used for static and dynamic seals, such as nitrile, silicone and fluorinated (e.g. Viton) polymers.

 

Carelube HES is classified as follows:

Castrol Hyspin™ AWH-M hydraulic oils are mineral oil based anti-wear hydraulic fluids which incorporate viscosity index improvers in order to enhance their viscosity - temperature performance for use in environments which are subject to low or widely variable temperatures. The high viscosity index can also allow a degree of rationalisation of hydraulic fluids across different equipment in order to reduce the number of lubricants carried on board.

 

Application

Castrol Hyspin AWH-M contains a shear stable VI which helps maintain the viscosity characteristics of the product over a wide range as well as through prolonged use. Utilising, the same additive system, as described for the Hyspin AWS product range, means that Hyspin AWH-M exhibits excellent corrosion and wear protection as well as outstanding thermal and oxidative stability. In addition, Hyspin AWH-M has excellent stability in the presence of water and separates rapidly from such contamination upon standing.

The Castrol BioBar range of high specification hydraulic oils are intended as drop-in replacements for conventional mineral oils in equipment where there is a risk of accidental spillage or leakage and consequent environmental pollution. Hydraulic systems are found throughout an offshore installation - on cranes, drill floor power units and hydraulic ring mains and are often located where leakage or spillage can escape into the marine environment. High flow rates, high operating pressures and extensive use of flexible hoses combine to make these systems vulnerable to rapid loss of fluid caused by chafe or mechanical damage.

Castrol BioBar contains selected additives ensuring good oxidation stability, good anti-corrosion and anti-wear properties and low aquatic toxicity. The combination of base oils used in Castrol BioBar endows it with a very high viscosity index and an extremely low pour point as well as giving excellent compatibility with elastomeric seal materials. The careful choice of the saturated synthetic ester enables the product to operate up to +120ºC system temperature.

The product level biodegradability of Castrol BioBar was measured in an extended OECD 306 (seawater) biodegradation test with a result greater than 60%, making it 100% more biodegradable than conventional mineral oils. This ensures its biodegradation should it enter the marine environment. The toxicity of Castrol BioBar was measured on 6 marine species and was found to be 100 times less toxic than conventional mineral oils. It also has > 50% less potential for bioaccumulation and > 30% of Castrol BioBar is derived from renewable sources.

Castrol BioBar is miscible with conventional mineral oil based hydraulic fluids. When changing from mineral oil based products to Castrol BioBar, the system should be drained to ensure that the mineral oil content of the refilled system is less than 5%. This is necessary to ensure that the maximum environmental benefit can be achieved.

 

Application

Hydraulic systems and hydrostatic transmissions incorporating gear pumps, vane pumps, radial piston or axial piston pumps and motors where there is a perceived risk of ingress into the environment in the event of spillage or leakage.
