Mar-Temp 340 is a high performance accelerated hot quenching oil suitable for use at temperatures of up to 200ºC. It is based upon solvent-refined mineral oils and contains a specially formulated additive package which provides accelerated quenching characteristics and excellent oxidation resistance and thermal stability. Mar-Temp 340 has a high flash point and will provide long life under arduous operating conditions.

 

Application:

Mar-Temp 340 is designed for hot oil quenching applications where minimum distortion is required and a very high cooling rate is necessary to achieve the optimum hardness and physical properties. It finds particular application in sealed quench furnaces at temperatures up to 200ºC, under a protective atmosphere, for the control of distortion on critical high precision components such as bearing rings or automotive transmission parts in through hardened, carburised and carbo-nitrided steels. It can also be used in open tanks at temperatures in excess of 100ºC for the quenching of gears and shafts.

A water soluble polymer quenchant for the solution heat treatment of aluminium alloys.

Aqua-Quench 251 is a pale amber coloured fluid concentrate based upon polyalkalene glycol. It mixes readily with water to produce a solution which is instantly ready for use. As Aqua-Quench 251 solutions are heated the organic polymer becomes insoluble in the water at temperatures above 74°C. When the solution is cooled the polymer goes back into solution and is fully miscible. It is this property known as "inverse solubility" which imparts the unique cooling mechanism to Aqua-Quench 251.

 

Application:

Aqua-Quench 251 is a versatile water soluble polymer quenchant for use in the solution heat treatment of aluminium alloys. The flexibility of quenching speed and uniform heat transfer characteristics of Aqua-Quench 251 eliminates many of the disadvantages of water or mineral oil based quenchants. 

Aqua-Quench 251 complies with Aerospace Material Specification (AMS) 3025(C) as a Type 2 multiple Polymer quenchant. Aqua-Quench 251 can be used for processing a wide range of aluminium alloys such as 2024, 6061 and 7075 and is suitable for cast and forged components, extruded sections, brazed fabrications and assemblies manufactured from thin gauge sheet.

Aqua-Quench 140 is an amber, transparent fluid specifically designed for induction hardening applications to minimise residual sticky deposits on equipment and quenched parts, provide resistance to microbial contamination and to extend system life.

 

Application:

Aqua-Quench 140 is diluted with water in use and provides extremely uniform quenching characteristics. It eliminates steam pockets and high residual stress associated with water quenching and avoids the formation of soft spots and inconsistent mechanical properties. Aqua-Quench 140 can be used for a very wide range of induction and flame hardening applications, including the quenching of crankshafts, camshafts, transmission components, starter ring gears and bearings. The quenching speed of Aqua-Quench 140 solutions can be selected to suit the steel hardenability and component requirements by varying the concentration of the solution. 1% to 5% solutions of Aqua-Quench 140 improve the wettability on the component surface thereby imparting a more uniform quench and preventing soft spotting. These low concentrations are generally used for steels of low hardenability. 5% to 20% solutions of Aqua-Quench 140 provide a range of cooling rates similar to those of soluble oil emulsions and quenching oils and are used for steels of higher hardenability.

Nitrite free polymer quenchant with more "oil-like" quenching characteristics.

Aqua-Quench 200 is the latest development in our range of polyalkylene glycol (PAG) based quenchants. Its slower cooling rate during the critical martensitic transformation temperature range minimises risk of cracking and distortion and so enables the treatment of higher hardenability steels not previously suitable for quenching in conventional PAG type quenchants.

Aqua-Quench 200 eliminates the smoke, fume and fire hazards associated with oil quenching and provides flexibility of quenching speed. Its nitrite free corrosion inhibitor system provides excellent protection to quench tank, fixtures and fittings, cooling systems and associated pipework.

 

Application:

Aqua-Quench 200 is diluted with water in use and provides extremely uniform quenching characteristics. The quenching speed of Aqua-Quench 200 can be varied to suit the steel specific steel hardenability and component requirements by varying the concentration and temperature of the solution and the degree of agitation in the quench tank.

1% to 10% solutions improve wettability on the component surface thereby imparting a more uniform quench and preventing soft spotting frequently associated with water quenching. These low concentrations are generally used for steels of very low hardenability.10% to 20% solutions provide accelerated quenching characteristics faster than those of accelerated quenching oils, and are therefore suitable for low hardenability steels and applications where optimum hardness and mechanical properties are required.20% to 35% solutions provide slower cooling rates suitable for a wide range of through hardening and case hardening steels.

Successful application of Aqua-Quench 200 will depend upon steel composition, component surface condition, section thickness and geometry. Aqua-Quench 200 has been used for quenching a wide range of through hardening and carburising steels and can be used in many different types of furnace including continuous mesh belt and shaker hearth furnaces, rotary scroll and sealed quench furnaces, as well as for direct quenching into open quench tanks. Aqua-Quench 200 is also suitable for the quenching of aluminium alloys following solution treatment i.e. alloy wheels, cylinder heads etc.

Aqua-Quench 300 is an advanced polymer quenchant designed for both low and high hardenability steel applications. Its quenching characteristics can be varied between those of water and normal speed cold quenching oil by varying the concentration of the solution. 

The low cooling rates exhibited by Aqua-Quench 300 in the convection stage of the quenching process enables the treatment of a wide range of steel components which maybe unsuitable for quenching in conventional polyalkylene glycol based polymer quenchants. 

Aqua-Quench 300 eliminates the smoke fume and fire hazards associated with oil quenching. It contains a nitrite free corrosion inhibitor system which provides excellent protection to quench tank, fixtures and fittings, pipework and cooling systems.

 

Application:

The quenching speed of Aqua-Quench 300 can be selected to suit the steel hardenability and component requirements by varying the concentration and temperature of the solution and the degree of agitation in the quench tank.

Aqua-Quench 300 is used generally at concentrations of between 10-35%.

Aqua-Quench 300 can be used in many different types of furnace including continuous mesh belt, shaker hearth, rotary scroll, as well as for direct quenching into open quench tanks.

To assist in initial mixing and filling Aqua-Quench 300 can be supplied in bulk pre-diluted to 50% concentration enabling a delivery by RTW directly into the quench tank.
