Castrol Tribol™ 800 synthetic gear oils have been developed for the lubrication of heavily loaded gears, bushings and bearings which may operate over a broad range of temperatures from ambient to elevated temperatures (>80°C/176°F). They are particularly intended to extend the service life of both lubricant and machine parts where unusually high operating and oil reservoir temperatures are encountered. The high performance characteristics of Tribol 800 are achieved with select polyalkyleneglycol (PAG) based synthetic fluids. They feature chemical and thermal stability, high viscosity index, water solubility, and compatibility with metals and elastomers most commonly used in machine construction. The naturally high resistance to oxidation of the synthetic base fluid is further enhanced by inhibitors. Corrosion protection is very effective even in the presence of water. Also, a package of high performance additives acts in combination for superior anti-wear and Extreme Pressure (EP) performance.

 

Application

The Tribol 800 range is especially suited to reservoirs and circulation systems operating at high temperatures because of heat generated in severe service or high temperatures in the application. Castrol Tribol 800’s are intended for all types of heavily loaded gears including spur, bevel and worm gears. Although well suited for all types of gearing and bearings, the Tribol 800 range is particularly effective in controlling wear and reducing friction between sliding surfaces. In addition, they possess a high degree of affinity for cupric metal alloys.

CASTROL TRIBOL® 1710 gear oils with TGOA® represent a significant advancement in gear oil technology. Developed for service in enclosed gear drives, rolling and sliding bearings, CASTROL TRIBOL® 1710 gear oils are typically used where heavy and shock load conditions prevail.

CASTROL TRIBOL® 1710 gear oils are manufactured from the highest quality mineral base oils and synthetic polyalphaolefins. Blended into these oils is TGOA®, the latest development in the field of surface improving additives. The TGOA® additive package is activated by high specific loads and corresponding temperatures, causing a chemical-physical reaction. This results in an equalization of surface roughness without creating abrasion. The results of the TGOA® additives may be compared with a rolling process in the micro-range. Surface roughness is gradually levelled and smoothed. Through smoothing of the working surfaces, the loads are distributed over larger areas. If due to shock loads or stop-and-go operation surface roughness peaks redevelop, the TGOA® additive package is automatically reactivated. Surface roughness is again equalized and lubrication optimised.

Typical applications are in spur, helical, herringbone, bevel and planetary gears as well as in geared couplings, rolling and sliding bearings and in gear drive circulating systems. Depending on the application CASTROL TRIBOL® 1710 may be used in a temperature range from –30°C up to +95°C.

Castrol Molub-Alloy™ 860/220-2 ES grease is a high-performance multi-service lithium complex grease formulated from premium petroleum base oils, lubricating solids and a combination of corrosion inhibitors specifically chosen for protection against corrosive process waters. It is designed to extend the service life of bearings in heavy-duty applications and at elevated temperatures. Molub-Alloy 860/220-2 ES provides an appropriate oil film for applications at slower to moderate speeds, higher loads, and/or higher temperatures sustained for longer periods of time. The load-carrying and anti-wear capabilities of Molub-Alloy 860/220-2 ES exceed conventional complex greases. High-performance is the result of chemical additives working synergistically with select Molub-Alloy lubricating solids which are dispersed uniformly throughout the grease. These lubricating solids offer their greatest benefit at slow speeds or when bearings endure heavy loads and shocks. Solids also protect newly machined bearing surfaces during the critical period of ‘running in’. Good bearing surfaces are essential for long service life.

Application

Primary metals, including steel use Molub-Alloy 860/220-2 ES grease near hot ingots, soaking pits, and reheat furnaces to lubricate pit cover carriages, mill stand screws, slipper couplings, roll bearings, manipulators and guide rolls for continuous casters. Paper and forest products – on paper machines, use Molub-Alloy 860/220-2 ES on the ‘wet end’ couch, suction, and press roll bearings where water wash, corrosive process waters, and high temperatures are present. Molub-Alloy 860/220-2 ES has been used successfully in all heavy-duty industry applications including anti-friction bearings, bushings, mill rolls and couplings. Molub-Alloy 860/150 ES greases should be used when loads are moderate-to-heavy, temperatures are elevated (up to 232ºC/450ºF) and speeds are moderate-to-high.

Additional Information:

At temperatures above 121ºC/250ºF, regular reapplications of 860 ES must be considered. At temperatures near 177ºC/350ºF, weekly reapplications of 860 ES are suggested. For continuous service near 204ºC/400ºF, reapply 860 ES daily or once each shift. Molub-Alloy 860 ES greases have been used above 232ºC/450ºF. However, frequent reapplication of grease is necessary to prevent deterioration of the petroleum base oil. Reapply before the grease in the bearing stiffens. In order to minimize potential incompatibilities when converting to a new grease, all previous lubricant should be removed as much as possible prior to operation. During initial operation, relubrication intervals should be monitored closely to ensure all previous lubricant is purged.

Castrol Molub-Alloy™ 777-2 ES grease is designed for very heavy duty service in adverse environments. DESCRIPTION
CASTROL MOLUB-ALLOY™ 936 SF is a uniquely compounded open gear lubricant developed specifically for use on heavy-duty equipment in mining and industrial service. It forms a tough lubricating film on the friction surfaces which is resistant to pressure and shock loads as well as unfavourable ambient conditions.
The structural integrity and strength of the lubricating film is particularly valuable in the critical process of running in new gears because of the natural occurrence of high spots (asperities) in newly machined surfaces. The lubricating film must separate the mating surfaces sufficiently to cushion the effect of the impact of asperities, and thus minimize initial pitting which could lead to progressive and destructive pitting later.
A highly refined, viscous, paraffinic petroleum derivative is the foundation of a blended base fluid with excellent natural chemical and thermal stability. CASTROL MOLUB-ALLOY™ 936 SF is compounded to flow readily in the film-forming process, yet it resists "squeeze-out" and clings tenaciously even to gear teeth in vertical orientation.
A proprietary blend of CASTROL MOLUB-ALLOY™ lubricating solids is included in particle sized suitable for open gears to promote antiwear properties.
Rust and oxidation inhibitors are included in the formulation to protect the equipment and the lubricating film against the elements in severe climates.

 

Application

  • All types of open gears, rails and rollers, racks and pinions, dipper sticks and other slides and shovels and draglines.

Application

Molub-Alloy 823 Greases have been approved as 'physiologically harmless' by Landesgewerbe-Anstalt LGA Bayern. The have also been approved by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) as H1 lubricants which can be used in the food and beverage industry even if incidental contact with food products is possible. The base fluid and all other ingredients used comply with Sections 178.3570 and 178.3520 of the FDA guidelines. A select base oil blend plus an FDA approved thickener provide good adhesion, film strength, and water-wash resistance even at elevated temperatures. Drip-free characteristics and the off-white colour of Molub-Alloy 823 Greases compliment housekeeping efforts in the food industry. A high performance combination of food grade additives provides excellent anti-wear protection. Application

Molub-Alloy 823 Greases have been approved as 'physiologically harmless' by Landesgewerbe-Anstalt LGA Bayern. The have also been approved by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) as H1 lubricants which can be used in the food and beverage industry even if incidental contact with food products is possible. The base fluid and all other ingredients used comply with Sections 178.3570 and 178.3520 of the FDA guidelines. A select base oil blend plus an FDA approved thickener provide good adhesion, film strength, and water-wash resistance even at elevated temperatures. Drip-free characteristics and the off-white colour of Molub-Alloy 823 Greases compliment housekeeping efforts in the food industry.
