DESCRIPTION

CASTROL OPTIGEAR® SYNTHETIC X is based on synthetic hydrocarbons and a special PD additive.
The additive package, when activated by high specific loads and corresponding temperatures, helps to equalize surface roughness without creating abrasion, the so-called plastic deformation.
CASTROL OPTIGEAR® SYNTHETIC X synthetic gear oil is a CLP-HC gear oil (according to DIN 51502) and exceeds the minimum requirements according to DIN 51517, part 3, CLP gear oils.

 

APPLICATIONS

  • CASTROL OPTIGEAR® SYNTHETIC X may be used as gear oil in spur gear, bevel gears or planetary gear units in heavy loaded gear units, e.g. wind turbine main gears.
  • It is also suitable for the lubrication of oil-lubricated rolling bearings.
  • Depending on the specific application, CASTROL OPTIGEAR® SYNTHETIC X may be used in an operating temperature range from -30 °C to +95 °C.

DESCRIPTION

Castrol Aero HF 585B is a mineral oil based low viscosity hydraulic fluid which is intended for use in hydraulic systems where rapid system response is required, particularly at low temperatures. Castrol Aero HF 585B is ideally suited to accumulator driven emergency control systems. Castrol Aero HF 585B is produced from low viscosity highly refined mineral basestock, shear stable viscosity index improver, antioxidants, corrosion inhibitors and anti-wear additives.

 

APPLICATION

Hydraulic systems operating at low ambient temperatures or driven by accumulators, such as Emergency Shut Down Valves and Watertight Door Controls.

 

CONDITIONS OF USE

The wearing of impervious PVC (or other suitable material) apron and gloves, together with eye protection is recommended. Contaminated clothing should be changed immediately and thoroughly cleansed before re-use. This applies especially to under garments.

OPTITEMP HT 2 is light coloured. OPTITEMP HT 2 EP has a dark colour due to the molybdenum disulphide contained in it. CASTROL INERTOX™ are chemically and thermally stable high-temperature greases on a fully synthetic basis. There are universally applied for long-term lubrication of rolling and sliding bearings especially when exposed to hostile ambient conditions.

 

Application

Castrol Firetemp™ XT 2 is a high temperature polyurea thickened grease fortified with extreme pressure (EP) additives as well as corrosion and oxidation inhibitors to provide a grease with outstanding lubricating properties. Application

Firetemp XT 2 is designed for rolling and sliding bearings at normal to medium peripheral speeds and high operating temperatures in applications such as:

Castrol Molub-Alloy™ 1000 extreme temperature grease utilises synthetic base oils in conjunction with a blend of Molub-Alloy lubricating solids selected for high temperature service. The synthetic fluids in Molub-Alloy 1000 were selected for their controlled low volatility, minimum residue after evaporation and high VI for additional film strength at elevated temperatures. The combination of synthetic fluids and a unique thickening system offers physical stability in prolonged service at high temperatures. Molub-Alloy 1000 remains more pliable than conventional high temperature greases. As a result of the higher viscosity synthetic base fluids used in Molub-Alloy 1000, the film strength at elevated temperature is superior to that of petroleum base oils. It is also formulated with a combination of rust and oxidation inhibitors for prolonged service life without relubrication.

Application

Molub-Alloy 1000 is designed for use in applications where elevated temperatures are encountered, heavy and shock loading occurs, and where bearing speeds are low to moderate. Molub-Alloy 1000 has been successfully used in a wide range of elevated temperatures industrial applications such as:

  • In overhead sealed trolley wheel conveyor bearings passing through paint drying ovens in an air conditioner manufacturing plant. Temperatures reached 180°C/356°F and relubrication cycles were every 8 months.
  • In overhead sealed trolley wheel conveyor bearings passing through a paint drying oven in an automotive assembly plant. Temperatures reached 185°C/365°F with relubrication cycles every 6 months.
  • In floor conveyor bearings passing through paint drying ovens in an automotive assembly plant. Temperatures of 190°C/374°F were reached with relubrication cycles every 6 months.
  • In overhead sealed trolley wheel conveyor bearings passing through paint drying ovens of a motorcycle assembly plant. After 4 months without relubrication in temperatures of 180°C/356°F, the bead of product on the outside of the trolley wheels was still soft and pliable. Relubrication cycles were every 6 months.
  • In a cement rotary kiln as a gas-seal lubricant to minimise hot gas leakage.

Castrol Molub-Alloy™ 2115 grease is a thermally stable high temperature synthetic bearing lubricant. It is formulated from an advanced synthetic fluid and thickened with a temperature stable non-soap base. Molub-Alloy 2115 includes a blend of performance additives and Molub-Alloy lubricating solids for exceptional wear protection and is designed to greatly extend service life and relubrication intervals in high temperature bearings.

Available in 6.8kg tins

 

Application

Primarily developed for extended service in oven conveyor bearings, Molub-Alloy 2115 is recommended for bearings operating in paint drying ovens, textile tentering frames, and similar applications where minimum reapplication and dripfree performance is required. Molub-Alloy 2115 can be used in continuous service at 250°C/482°F and may be exposed to intermittent temperatures up to 280ºC/536ºF. Forced draft ventilation should be used at temperatures exceeding 200ºC. Molub-Alloy 2115 can be applied manually or with automatic dispensing equipment.

 

 

User benefits include:

  • Thermally and chemically stable – unparallel resistance to oxidation at high temperatures therefore extending relubrication intervals without undue risk of under lubrication, lubrication starvation, or an increase in power draw.
  • Virtually inert below 300ºC/575ºF – resists the thickening and hardening that is typical of petroleum greases in high temperature service.
  • Even at high temperatures, Molub-Alloy 2115 is resistant to organic solvents and most chemicals, including strong acids, alkalis, and oxidising agents.
  • Low volatility – does not volatilise readily at high temperatures and/or when exposed to high vacuum.
  • Formulated to address environmental concerns – it is free of lead, chlorinated solvents, and barium.

 

Additional Information:

Molub-Alloy 2115 should not be mixed with other greases or oils. In case of doubt please consult your local Technical Services. Molub-Alloy 2115 has a very low order of toxicity at room temperature with no significant irritation to skin or eyes. At 200ºC/392ºF, small quantities of toxic fumes are generated. The use of 2115 above 200ºC is not recommended without the use of forced draft ventilation. At 300ºC/572ºF, 2115 decomposition begins to accelerate, and small amounts of highly toxic, potentially acidic vapours are formed. Positive draft ventilation to the atmosphere is essential. Clean-up may be difficult because of the excellent resistance to ordinary cleaners and solvents. However, there are some industrial cleaners (fluorinated solvents) which can be used effectively.
